At this time Optus does not have a page that shows when they are planning to release updates. Their website is particularly unhelpful and if you are an Optus subscriber we would encourage you to provide feedback to the carrier that its not only Android users that want updates.

Aussie Airline Apps

You’ve got your Nokia Lumia 1020 and all of its 41 megapixel goodness and you want to head off on a holiday! Which airlines that fly to Australia have an available Windows Phone app? Find out below.

Qantas

QFOur favourite Australian airline has had a few issues with its Windows Phone app since the launch of Windows Phone 8. It has since updated the app and you can once again check in for flights, pin flights to start and manage your Qantas Frequent Flyers.

Virgin Australia

VirginWith Virgin Australia’s app, which is very similar to the one on offer for Windows 8 you can book flights, manage your booking but on this app you can also view Virgin’s flight deals.

Air Asia

AAWith Air Asia’s app you can purchase tickets on the discount airline along with managing your bookings and checking in for flights. You can also use your phone as a boarding pass.

There is an absence of both Tiger and Jetstar from the Windows Phone Store. A number of other airlines including Malaysian Airlines, Thai Airways, United Airlines, China Airlines and British Airways also have apps for Windows Phone; the above airlines were chosen to feature as they fly many local routes. And if you are looking to find a good deal on a flight Skyscanner is always a good choice.

Banking on your Windows Phone

So you’ve just picked up your great new Windows Phone. Unfortunately most banks don’t support Windows Phone yet, so we thought we’d make it easier and share with you the banks that have a Windows Phone app, whether or not they are very full featured. Here is a list of current Australian banks that have apps for Windows Phone.

There is a noteable absense in the marketplace from ANZ, NAB and Westpac. Each of these do have accessible mobile websites which can be used from your phone. There is a known issue accessing NAB’s mobile banking site from your phone so you must access it via nab.com.au/wp7. On Another nothe an excellent cross bank app which provides links to all Australian banks’ mobile internet banking wesites is OZBankLinks which even lets you pin your bank to your start screen. There is also a third party ATM finder app for NAB available in the marketplace. If you would like to see an app from your banking provider your should contact them directly and request it!

Grindr Still a No Show

GrindrSome of you may have remembered when Grindr blocked Metrocrush and had it removed from the marketplace. Well its going on 6 months since it was removed. Grindr tweeted within days of having Metrocrush removed that they were working on a Windows Phone version of the app.

Since then we are yet to hear a word from Grindr on their progress, furthermore any reference to any other versions of the app have been removed from their website and the link to the tweet has also been removed. Due to continued interest on a previous story we have reached out to Grindr for comment but they have not responded.

Personally, I don’t believe we’ll be seeing a version of Grindr for Windows Phone 7. Maybe we’ll see it on Windows Phone 8! Do you think we will see Grindr on Windows Phone any time soon?

G’day!
